3 QUESTIONS WITH JON PEARLMAN

The countdown is on!  Please remind friends, family and neighbors to get out and vote this Tuesday, March 10th.

You’ve invested in the Save Boca mission with considerable personal resources and your time. Why is this so important to you personally?

Boca is my home and it’s where my wife and I are raising our two children.  They play in Boca’s parks.  They ride their bikes on Boca’s sidewalks and go to the beach on weekends. Allowing the current city council to turn Boca into Miami while subsidizing hotel and condo developers with our public land and millions of taxpayer dollars is not an option.  I started Save Boca and am a city council candidate because I saw what this city council was doing to Boca and couldn’t allow it to happen.

We need leaders on the city council who will represent the residents 100% of the time—not developers and special interest groups.  That’s why I’m running: to make every decision on the city council for the best interests of us, the residents.  Myself and the Save Boca candidates, Michelle Grau and Stacy Sipple have pledged not to take one cent in developer contributions.  We will be uncompromised on the City Council and we will make every decision for the betterment and preservation of Boca.  Nothing else.  We will actually have a city council, not a developer council.

We have come a long way since the beginning, but our whole community needs to show up strong together on March 10th and VOTE NO to save our public land and way of life.  This election will define Boca’s future.

Save Boca has built an army of grassroots supporters who have carried the weight of sharing the organization’s message. What do their efforts look like in these closing days of the campaign?

First, I want to thank the tens of thousands of Save Boca supporters across our city.  Without you, Memorial Park would be a demolition site right now. The two iconic Banyan trees that adorn our entrance to City Hall would have been cut down already. The only reason that we are getting a vote on this 99 year high rise development project is because of our residents.  All of us care deeply about our city and we got involved to fight back against this attempted land-grab of our parks and public land.

I am humbled and grateful for the countless Save Boca volunteers who continue to knock doors and talk to neighbors about this important election. March 10th is truly our last chance to Save Boca.  The character and integrity of our city is at stake.

What would you say is the biggest thing you’ve learned in this campaign?

I’ve seen what we are capable of when we stand together.  Let's make our voices heard loud and clear on March 10th.

The establishment has underestimated us.  Together we can take on big developers and protect what matters most to us, which is our community right here and the many reasons we have all chosen to live here. March 10th will be a defining moment in our city’s history.  Please share the message to show up and vote on this important Election Day.
