Our City Council is about to put 31 acres of public land in downtown Boca Raton with large Banyan trees, recreation facilities, a 17-acre public park and open space in the hands of private developers so they can build high-rise apartments, office buildings, a hotel, and very likely condominiums and

Profit at the Expense of the Citizens of Boca.

Keep Our Public Land Public by Signing Our Petition to Save Boca Raton

The Boca Raton Tennis Center has 10 Clay Courts for the residents of Boca Raton.

2 Large Baseball/Softball Fields Sit on the 31 Acres of Public Land

The Shuffleboard Courts are located on the 31 acres of public land in Boca Raton.

Giving away public land should be decided by the public, through a vote. The Mayor and City Council made this decision without doing that.  But we can stop it. Please sign the Save Boca Petition.

We must act now to save our open spaces within 31 acres of public land in Boca Raton, which includes the vast 17-acre Memorial park, the Boca Raton Tennis Center with 10 clay courts, the Skate Park, 2 large baseball/softball fields, a children’s playground, a basketball court, shuffleboard courts, and the site of the historic Children’s Museum.

If we don’t act now these precious 31 acres of public land will be forever lost. Please sign and circulate the Save Boca Petition to stop this.

The Historic Children’s Museum is on the 31 Acres

On the 31 acres, in addition to the 17-acre Memorial Park and our recreation facilities, is the historic Children’s Museum of Boca Raton, the 2nd oldest building in Boca that still exists. On the site is also Rickard’s House, a replica of one of the first homes built in Boca in 1897. Keep these 2 historic buildings where they are and sign the Save Boca Petition.

Large Banyan and oak trees are plentiful on the 31-acres and beautify the heart of downtown Boca Raton. This land is truly priceless to our city.

The City Council has fast-tracked this project without conducting vital studies required by law:

  • No independent cost-effectiveness analysis

  • No independent public benefit analysis

  • No public land appraisal

  • No independent environmental impact study

  • No analysis of recreational needs or displacement

The Skate Park is Located on the 31 Acre Site and is Named After Tim Huxhold

Tim Huxhold, the 1999 Parks and Recreation Board Chairman, spent his career working to provide quality park facilities and recreation programs for all residents and visitors of Boca Raton. The Skate Park is named after him and is located on the 31 acres of public land that is about to be handed over to private developers for the construction of high-rises. Sign and get your friends, family and neighbors to sign the Save Boca petition to save the Skate Park

The City has misleadingly branded this project in public communications and messaging as a“Government Campus Redevelopment.” The 31 acres is mostly comprised of the 17-Acre Memorial Park named for World War II, recreational amenities, and open and green spaces that are being alienated from us and put into the hands of private developers so they can profit.

It has been pitched that we will be gaining a new city hall in exchange for giving away this public land, however the city is going to have to pay up front for our city hall and WE ARE NOT GETTING A FREE CITY HALL FROM THIS DEAL.

ONLY WE THE PEOPLE CAN STOP THIS HORRIBLE DEAL FOR BOCA RATON.

Sign and Help Circulate the Save Boca Petition to Save Our 31 Acres of Parkland, Open Space, and Recreation Facilities in Boca Raton.

To save our public land, we are circulating a petition that will require a public vote before public land, including our public parks, beaches, rec facilities and playgrounds all across Boca Raton, can be leased, sold, or transferred to private developers. This invaluable public land currently does not have any protection and can be alienated from us, the people, by the City Council without a public vote.

Please sign the petition and get others to sign by circulating it among friends, family and neighbors. Anyone can download and print the petition and get people signing. This is urgent for the security of Boca Raton public parks, beaches, rec facilities, playgrounds, and all open, green spaces throughout our beautiful city.
